Sunday in Popayan was a bust. Nothing was open (I eventually found a pizza joint about 5p) so I checked into my hotel, (Hostel Trail) settled in for a few days (I had a private room for the first time since I left home), made a some plans for the next few days. I just have to be in Quito for my orientation with Ceiba on September 3. I’ve heard about Silvia, where one of the native populations still cling to traditional dress and customs and about San Augustin–a pre-Colombian archaeological site that is still being uncovered. Then there is Ipiales on the border which supposedly has an interesting church. Like much in my life these days, all these plans are subject to change.
